Planning Department

The Planning Department is a dynamic unit that works to improve the welfare of people and the community by creating more equitable, healthful, efficient, and attractive place for present and future generations.

 

 

The Planning Department:

 

  1. Performs professional planning duties that include planning for the future growth and permitting residential and non-residential development projects.
  2. Administers and enforces the Town’s nuisance, minimum housing, junk vehicle, and zoning ordinances.
  3. Meets and discusses planning issues and policies with the Board of Commissioners, Planning Board and Board of Adjustment, 

 

 

Comprehensive Land Use Plan

The Town of Siler City is updating the Comprehensive Plan. A Comprehensive Plan outlines a town’s vision for its future and policies and recommendations for achieving that vision. It guides land use policy, funding, resource distribution and infrastructure investment decisions for the Town of Siler City, its staff, and its governing bodies. It is created through an extensive planning process that prioritizes public engagement to capture the shared vision for Siler City.

Town of Siler City Planning Board 

The following item will be considered by the Siler City Planning Board during its regular meeting on June 10, 2024, beginning at 6:30 p.m. in the Siler City Court Room of the Siler City Town Hall, located at 311 N. 2nd Ave.

 

Regularly Scheduled Public Meeting

 

Recommendation of the proposed draft of the Town’s Comprehensive Land Use Plan.

 

If the Planning Board takes action with a recommendation to approve or deny the proposed draft, the public hearing will tentatively be scheduled to be heard by the Board of Commissioners at its regularly scheduled meeting on July 15, 2024, beginning at 6:30 p.m. in the Siler City Court Room of the Siler City Town Hall, located at 311 N. 2nd Ave.

 

All persons interested in the outcome of this item are invited to attend the public meeting.

The Town of Siler City will make appropriate arrangements to ensure that disabled persons are provided other accommodations.
